5 Spectacular Watches To Invest In As A Collector.

This Post is about 5 Spectacular Watches To Invest In As A Collector.

If you’ve been reading our content since day one, you’ll know how much we love watches here at The Seeking Seagull. Timepieces simply complete a man/woman’s look for any occasion and thanks to the popularity of certain brands, they naturally become great investments. Here are 5 spectacular watches to invest in as a collector.

1: Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711.

Patek Philippe is well known for being a highly sought after brand for its spectacular design and notability. The 5711 simply takes that a step further. There isn’t a definite reason to why the 5711 is in such high demand but if you got one, you probably saw how insane the value shot up. Aside from that, the 5711 simply goes well with any look both on men and women. My partner and I constantly share watches and the Nautilus can go on your wrist when you’re dressed up for a cocktail evening or a casual stroll along Rodeo Drive. Most recently, the Nautillus gained so much attention and demand thanks to the release of the Tiffany & Co. edition in a Tiffany blue face.

2: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo.

The Royal Oak series itself is THE watch to get when looking into Audemars Piguet. Any notable collector in the world would have at least two pieces due to the fact that its engineering and aesthetic simply screams “success”. The Jumbo, specifically, gained a lot of traction when AP kicked off their Royal Oak collection with a consider “large” bezel (at the time). I personally have one and the watch simply makes sense even though the design is so low-key. Recently, AP rebooted the Jumbo with a new reference 16202 and another openworks caliber 7124.

3: Rolex Daytona

If you have ever tried to put in an order for a Rolex Daytona (during a time you weren’t called up randomly for one), you’ll know how long it takes to acquire a piece. The Rolex Daytona is considered to be one of the best investment watches with the most expensive watch ever sold at auction being the Paul Newman. Considered to be the ”top tier“ of the sports range thanks to its complicated movements, the Daytona can be seen in many different designs from the Paul Newman and Panda to very elaborate “iced-out” diamond-filled pieces. Personally, I have a few pieces and my favorite being the Paul Newman for its retro “flashback” style. Also, it really goes well with anything you wear at any occasion.

Cartier Santos Dumont

4: Cartier Santos

Now that we’re drifting away from the big (mainstream) three, the Cartier santos, in my opinion, is an underrated watch among certain groups within the collector realm. Though not many would go into it for its value, many certainly love the way it looks and its astonishing history. Released in 1904, the Santos de Cartier made its mark I the world of timepieces as the first ever wristwatch created for men. To date, the timeless elegance of the Santos never fails to strike up a conversation. Personally, I wear a gold Santos-Dumont (above) paired with a graphite alligator strap and it would almost always be my go-to watch for a black-tie or even a run to the grocery store. It's that versatile!

Vacheron Constantin "American"

5: Vacheron Constantin Historiques American.

Drifting into the "cult watches", the Vacheron Constantin American is unique watch made to serve a very simple purpose. Designed with the 12 o'clock position starting on where the 1 o'clock would typically be, this design simply makes reading the time easer when one's hands are on the steering wheel while driving. I wrote post about my personal piece in an older post which can be read here!
