Morning
I Started the day thinking about what can be done to be better at being who I am. Being surrounded by a new group of people in a new environment felt overwhelming at first, especially when I literally went from sitting around the house flying a virtual plane to playing a part in making sure planes actually fly.
I remember just sitting at my desk one day thinking back how fast life has moved for me over the past 5 months (coming up to almost half a year). For the people struggling out there, sometimes life takes its course in mysterious ways but one thing I have learnt and applied from one of the many Reels I watch on a daily basis is to just count down from five to one, and literally just do what I have to do no matter how intimidating or challenging the situation may be. I mean, nothing is worse than actually dying.
Afternoon
My mornings are typically filled with leadership training sessions from my boss, pow-wows on how we can grow a start-up airline to becoming one of the greatest there can be, and following up on projects I have been delegated to. Being an executive assistant may sound pretty simple as, often times, is compared to being a personal assistant. However, it is safe to tell you that it sure isn't.
As I sit here at a coffee shop indulging in my favorite dish, a hot bowl of pork noodles, I reflect on what I have learnt for the day: A leader is someone who is able to think out of the box. No matter how big an idea can be, what differentiates a normal person from a leader is the ability to think like a waterfall. From a great idea to how that great idea can be executed to what are the costs and benefits that would come out of the idea and finally, how do we start. It's like a funnel where the idea starts off big and you reverse-engineer it down to where you start. I have worked with leaders and that's one common thing I have experienced and learnt from them.
Evening
Like how the sun sets, my mind tones down after a long and productive day in a time of reflection. Sounds like I reflect a lot throughout the day but what other thing can I do as I'm stuck here in traffic? I feel grateful for the priceless lessons I am privileged enough to learn form my boss and people who I work with. The fact that an organization thrives on teamwork and not just the individual effort makes me realize how large organizations like Apple and Amazon started out small and eventually grew to what it is to day simply by having the right ideas and the right people to execute them.
Night
My nights are the same thing every day, but with minor differences that change from day to day. I get home, have a hearty dinner with my family, and have some down time with my dog. She sure can be a handful at times, especially when she comes from a lineage of working dogs.
After I take my shower, perform my skincare routine, I put on my Apple Watch and type this blog out. It really helps me when I have a lot clumped up in my mind and here I have an outlet to pour all my thoughts on for the world to see. I then schedule this to be up in the morning, and prepare social media posts to blast this.
Finally, I tuck everything away, set my alarms, and put my AirPods on in preparation for my nightly meditations. It is safe to say that Fitness + is loaded with tonnes of helpful meditations uploaded very frequently for any purpose I seek. As I seek to relax, I play a quick 10 minute meditation and think about all the happy things that has come to my life. I put everything aside in the pitch darkness, and get some shut eye.
Time to sleep. Good night.
