School's out, sun's out. What now? It's a time to be spent with family and friends, to have fun, and to explore the world out there! Here are 5 simple summer essentials you absolutely need for your next road trip!
1: Sunscreen
It's all fun and games in the sun until you get sunburn and the other half of the trip is just agonizing. Be it in the sandy beaches or Florida or the rocky shores in Greece, prevention is certainly better than cure.
2: Portable door lock
Being away from home for long periods of time or at an unfamiliar lodge can put you in a position where personal security is compromised and you might want to think about some added security. Especially one you can easily bring along with you or simply place them at home.
3: A Bunch of snacks!
What's summer without your favorite snacks? You're chilling with your buddies or your family on a road trip from east to west (or to the south or something) and you feel that stopping and grabbing snacks and drinks at every gas stop might ring your expenses up a little higher than expected. I would highly suggest going to your neighborhood grocery store or even Costco to grab a whole bunch of snacks and drinks (assuming you still have space in the car) before your next road trip. Once, a friend of mine decided on getting raw chicken to which we really didn't even plan on camping while we were in Arizona. We might have fed that chicken to some wild dogs but I'm not too sure what happened.
4: Portable cooler
Okay, this one's a little extra but wouldn't it be nice to have your drinks or ice cream remain cool while you travel or while you're getting your tan on at the beach? Rather than having to walk to the snack bar all the time or have room-temperature coke in the car, you can simply enjoy the comfort of simply grabbing an ice-cold beer or ice-cream anytime!
5: e-books
Sometimes, you just want to enjoy a good book with the waves crashing in the background or around the stacked paddy fields of Bali. Be it an on an iPad or a Kindle, reading while on a trip far away from home can somehow feel very self-renewing. I recently read a book by Jim Collins titled "Good to Great" and I got inspired to push on with my business and look to scale, all while having a nice beer by the pool.
Summer is the best time to really expand ones horizon and gain some enlightening. It doesn't matter if you're traveling or spending some time at home with family, friends, or on your own. It's really the only time all year you get to rejuvenate and maybe even start on your own business ideas after all that exploring and journey of self-actualization.
